On 26th January, 2017, Pakistan’s first TV Application “Tapmad TV” was launched formally in an event at Alliance Francaise, Karachi and hosted by the vivacious, Ayesha Omar. The attendees of the event were well known people from the media and technology industry as well as the corporate world including Nadeem Hussain (Founder, Planet N), Zafar Siddiqui (CEO, Samaa TV), Rehan Allahwala (Founder, Rehan School), Shakeel Masud (CEO, Dawn News), Sara Haider, Mahirah Khan, Sikander Rizvi and so many more renowned faces( I was there too btw in case you’ve missed my snapstory, which you should never. K?)

Tapmad TV is going to bring a revolution in the entertainment industry of Pakistan by bringing TV into your palms. Just a tap away from live news, watching sports & lots of entertainment. I’ve found my jack to watch all the action  of upcoming PSL cricket series on the go. With over 140 live TV channels being available through the application as well as many movies, shows, and documentaries, you won’t be able to miss out on any of your favorites anymore. Tapmad TV is definitely going to be the most favorite app of generation on the go. The app has a ‘Catch Up’ feature, which helps you to record and download content, and watch later. While briefing the audience about the concept behind the app, Yassir Pasha, Founder and CEO of Tapmad TV stated that;

“2017 will be a year of mobile entertainment in Pakistan. He shared that watching movies and videos is the third most popular activity amongst people in the world, after sleeping and working. With more than 1 million minutes of data being consumed on our app in the past three months, I expect Tapmad TV to lead this change”, he added.

Mr. Pasha also proudly announced that the entire team of Tapmad TV, including the developers were wholly and solely Pakistanis. “The app is by Pakistanis, for Pakistanis”, Mr. Pasha stated. He also shed some light on the monetary details of the application as well as some statistical details which includes 140 live channels without a cost and a ‘Premium’ option for PKR250/month which helps subscribers to view content in HD quality.

Mr. Nadeem Hussain, the founder of Planet N and the investor in Tapmad TV also spoke a few kind words for the company. He encouraged other young startups to come forward with their pitches and explore the world of entrepreneurship.

The event closed with a performance by famous illusionist from Pakistan, Shaheer Khan, who literally left the audience bedazzled with his talent. Following the mystery performance was a musical performance by Jimmy Khan and his band who sang the legendary ‘Naddiya paar paar’ and other hits.
