#BeSmart – Grocery shopping from mycart saves time and money

They say, Time is money. That means money is time? I mean if I have time hi time am I rich? Or if I have money do I still have to save time? Well, that’s messed up. Leave it here.

When it comes to shopping from superstores and filling your carts all we worry about is saving some money & spending a lot of time. Isn’t it? Kiryana wala aapko discounted deals nahi deta Isi liaye aap superstore jatay hain. Nahi? Shampoo with conditioner bundle, Dishwashing liquid with dishwashing soap bundle and something extra with cartons of milk makes us all go back to supermarkets. I find it very hectic to be honest. With kids it becomes a labor when you have to keep moving with the trolley while keeping an eye on kids throwing things from aisles in the trolley that you have to actively spot. Then the long lines at checkout. Ufff. Who has time for that?

Thank God like everything, grocery shopping has gone Digital too. mycart.pk is like a huge superstore that fits into your palm. I have met Waqas Pervez head of marketing mycart.pk at the recently organized Bloggers meetup for female bloggers at Dunkin Donuts earlier this week in Karachi. He shared some interesting research about Online shopping behavior of mostly Karachi shoppers(mycart operates in Karachi, lahore & Islamabad). We had an interesting poll which busted the myth that men don’t like to shop online and women are not financial decision makers. Surprised? We were too but mycart has done some in depth analysis through stats. Here are some facts regarding online grocery shopping in Pakistan.

  • 92% carts filled at mycart had more than 2 items.
  • Only 9% of female population on Facebook are above 35 of age. They are the actual grocery decision makers.

How to shop for groceries Online?

All you have to do is fill your cart at Mycart.pk with all the grocery essentials from milk, flour, rice, sugar or even frozen foods and chocolates etc. They even have fresh fruits and vegetables (OMG sabzi online). Apart from conventional grocery items, mycart offers products for grooming, automobile, gadgets and sports gear categories.

mycart has an app too. All you have to do is register on mycart.pk and verify your account through the code sent via sms. Place your order, choose the area and enter your address. They offer you tentative delivery dates and time slot options that you can choose as per convenience and you’re done.

No need to queue up at the checkout any more. With mycart you can also choose payment options like COD or even credit card on delivery method.

What else do you need? mycart is a savior when it comes to doing groceries in this hot weather.

  • KEEP AN EYE OS BUNDLE OFFERS AND SALE OFFERS.
  • mycart delivers FOR FEEE for orders as low as Rs 500.
  • Pay week sales offer additional discounts.

Just rest at home and do groceries like a pro. Thanks to mycart. Things we all should be thankful for making our lives easier.

My Shopping Experience from mycart

My shopping experience from mycart has always been great. Alhamdulilah. Except for one time when one item wasn’t available & that was a skincare thing. With grocery shopping, I had no issues so far. It is very practical to order with time & date of delivery chosen as per your convenience.

#FitHongiMein – Of post partum healthy diet and detox

Remember that cabbage soup diet that I have posted earlier? Apparently it has been quite famous for weight loss around the world. I must confess that I did not like the idea of having it every single day but considering the results, I was definitely intrigued. It was challenging to see if I can eat that regularly and then I got pregnant and ditched the plan lol.

A couple of months ago I have given birth to a beautiful baby girl alhamdulilah and since then all everyone expects from me is, “Pait k liaye kiya kar rahi ho?”,”Belt use ki?”, “shru k hi months main pait andar hogaya tou hogaya warna motapa naseeb main hai” etc etc. Although it wasn’t my first baby but the pattern of advises was exactly the same. Who doesn’t want to be fit? Of course I wanted to be physically and mentally fit but the problem is an infant who is EBF and you’re the only source of nutrition in first 6 months. It is already hectic to take care of kids and home while living alone.

So, my struggle during postpartum days wasn’t really about losing weight but staying healthy and energetic. Having two elder kids of the ages 5 and 3 makes me feel lethargic and drained. Doing household chores, taking care of infant, spending sleepless nights with her then getting up for the school of elder one and so on. All this hassle was taking toll on my health. I needed something to boost my energy levels without any harmful effects  for the baby. Nursing moms need to have a good diet and healthy foods due to which you can’t really focus on calories but definitely you need to have nutrient rich diet with detox drinks.

So, I started consuming a cup of Tapal Green tea early in the morning with some honey and cut down white sugar gradually. Tapal green tea with Catechins not only aids in reducing weight faster and in a healthier manner but also helps regulate metabolism and the best part is it comes in various different flavors. Apple cinnamon and tropical peach being the exotic flavors and current favorites of many.

What’s your tips and tricks to stay healthy and fit during post partum days? Do share in comments. Always remember that U need u so be there for yourself. Eat healthy, drink healthy and detox.

Cabbage soup diet helps in fat burning and weight loss

Disclaimer: Weight loss and diets are subject to your health and wellness plus the amount of workout. Don’t opt for any dietary supplement or strict diet plan without consulting a nutritionist.

This is a true story of a (famous) guy from Karachi named Abdul Majid.  Yes, he’s the famous comics by Majid walay Majid bhai and he’s kind enough to share his journey when I asked in response to his absolutely incredible transformation from 84Kgs to 73kgs in just 60 days. That’s an incredible 11Kgs gone with cabbage soup diet.

His daily meals for 60 days:

    Breakfast

    • 4 egg whites and 1 yolk
    • Half slice of brown bread

    Lunch

Green salad with 1tsp olive oil dressing

    Dinner

    Cabbage soup everyday.

    His story:

Majid explains that he was in depression and overeating due to it before Ramazan. Then his friends motivated him to join a boot camp where his trainer encouraged him to go for cabbage soup diet (please consult a dietician before going for such diet).

Majid started workout and diet side by side this June. He followed the diet plan mentioned above for 60 days and the results are quite motivating. It is also important to remember that exercise is a must to keep yourself fit alongwith diet.

Here’s the recipe of fat burning cabbage soup that he uses to make daily. This soup recipe is believed to melt thighs btw.

    Picture provided by Majid Khan

    Recipe source Allrecipes

    Ingredients

    • 5 carrots, chopped
    • 3 onions, chopped
    • 2 (16 ounce) cans whole peeled tomatoes, with liquid
    • 1 large head cabbage, chopped
    • 1 (1 ounce) envelope dry onion soup mix
    • 1 (15 ounce) can cut green beans, drained
    • 2 quarts tomato juice
    • 2 green bell peppers, diced
    • 10 stalks celery, chopped
    • 1 (14 ounce) can beef broth

    Instructions:

Place carrots, onions, tomatoes, cabbage, green beans, peppers, and celery in a large pot. Add onion soup mix, tomato juice, beef broth, and enough water to cover vegetables. Simmer until vegetables are tender. May be stored in the refrigerator for several days.

PS: This is a set recipe for diet purpose. Any modifications might change its nutritional values but Majid didn’t add onion soup packet. You can add an egg instead in the end.

Have you been on diet? What’s your secret to a healthy weight loss? Do share.

Of gol rotis and being #NotAFailure as a housewife

Gol rotis have always been the standard for potential marriage proposals before the doctor bride craze. Women have always been under the radar for their cooking skills be it before marriage or after marriage life. Rishta aunties always use to ask, “khana wana bna leti hai?, silai karrhai aati hai?”.

Recently I saw a tweet in which a newly wed doctor bride whatsapped her sister a picture of loki asking, “Ammi se poch isay bnatay kesay hain?”. It was kinda cute too but at the end of the day what we want from a woman is just good/cooked food and that too on time?

I had an interesting tweet conversation about making gol rotis and the surprising part is men replying that they can make gol rotis too.

There is much more to a woman than the food she makes for her family despite the traditional standard of perfection set for a woman. National Food’s recent ad campaign focuses on importance of sahulat for women to get sometime out making memories with family. The idea of #NotAFailure hits me right in the feels as I can so relate to it and I see it creating a good dialogue over social media. Love such ads which prompt healthy discussion. Specially the line when she says, “Kitchen main ghanton na lagaon tou kiya main fail hogai?”.

I have been self employed since my college days as being from middle class you need to start earning as soon as possible. Being the eldest among my siblings and my forever love for food made me interested in cooking from school days. Whenever amma has cooked something I don’t like, I use to make my own portion of timatar rice or at least fries to have. When mom gets ill, I have to cook for the whole family and then I realize how important it is to have sahulat while cooking. Abba realized that I have problems in cooking for the whole family as my spice measurements weren’t perfect back then. He decided to help me with Spice mixes of National. I found my fairy God mother of cooking in the form of spice mix. Now I don’t have to worry about masala measurements and go again and again to amma asking ab kiya daalon?

It’s been two decades now since I began my foodie kitchen journey. I have then stepped into professional life and then kids happen. Now is the time when I need sahulat the most and I have no shame in admitting that I rely on packet ka masala the most now. Specially the khandaan famous Qorma has its credit to National Foods. Sssshhhhh don’t tell my khandaan.

No harm in finding yourself some me time or family time by getting an escape from kitchen while availing sahulat once in a blue moon. No need to miss on the Cricket matches you love because you have to cook for the family while they all are watching it Live. Either order food away or pre cook using spice mixes. Don’t miss out on the extra time ever. Never.

Reh gai gol roti tou guess karain uskay liaye konsi sahulat hai?
