#FPW15- The Winter Festive Fashion Show

This year Fashion Pakistan week had a fabulous designer line-up for its Fall/winter edition, titled as #FPW15 Winter Festive. Three days of fashion extravaganza with huge expectations ended up in being more bridal then festive but the good thing is that it happens.

With the names like maestro Umar Sayeed and Nilofer Shahid, #FPW15 has got many eyes rolling. There were hits, misses and surprises but overall it was a packed show with lots of retail worthy clothes.

For viewers at home, Fashion Pakistan had a flawless live stream that works like a charm this year. Loved the multiple camera live coverage, at least far better than those glaring lights of the ramp which were making it almost impossible to snap. The media partners were Urdu1 for the first time and they did a great job. Social media was a buzz during the show with hashtags #FPW15 #WinterFestive and #Urdu1 trending in Pakistan.

Trends: Thank thy lords of fashion for bringing back shalwars, flared pants and medium length shirts. Velvet is the fabric and purple is definitely the color of the season. Bling is IN too. FPW needs a whole dedicated day for menswear. WE NEED IT.

Here is a trip down memory lane of FPW15  from all the three days. Who was your favorite?

FPW15 Day 1:

Shehla Chatoor’s All the raj collection was a dream start. Luxury, Festive and Wintry.

AFH collection had many misses than hits.

Hisham Malik needs to concentrate. Too much going on but potential seen.

Tena Durrani presented a bit boring but definitely retail worthy collection for masses.

Toni and Guy’s Hair scout was all about messy hairs but Imran Abass killed that walk while Sania Maskatiya’s capsule collection was so good. Gulabo wasn’t impressive though.

Sana Safinaz Finale was all about velvet and colors. I find it repetitive and boring to be honest. Jackets were stunning though.

FPW15 Day2:

Day2 opens with much-anticipated collection by Wardha Saleem, Zargul has lots of festive outfits that were leaning towards bridal. I like the outfit that Zeb Bangash wore.

Maheen Karim’s Tempo di Festa was more like cat woman disco deewanay. Been there, done that, seen it.

Obaid Shiekh had more misses than hits but I manage to find these few good ones.

FnkAsia presented neither funky nor fun collection. What I have seen before was way better than this one.

Nida Azwer’s collection was way too embellished that one can even bear seeing. It was overdone.

Elan had the coolest collection of Day 2 with lots of hits. Loved these designs.

Deepak Perwani’s finale closes day 2 of FPW15. Not much to like there.

FPW15 Day3:

Umar Sayeed opens day 3 of FPW15 with a bang. Mahira Khan, Sheharyar Munawar and adeel Hussyn, the cast of upcoming Lollywood movie Ho Mann Jahaan walks the ramp in elegantly designed clothes. The color pallet was soft, intricate embroidery and such elegant cuts makes UMar Sayeed’s collection a hit. Loved most of the pieces.

Zaheer Abbas shows his class once again. Loved the clothes with minimal embroidery the most.

Delphi by Nida tapal was over the top. As much as I love Crochet, I can’t love the collection.

Zainab Chottani presented bridal galore. Clothes that makes you feel the weight.

Faraz Manan’s collection had few misses but the clothes were crafted elegantly. Less is more sometimes though.

Nauman Arfeen’s collection was impressive to say the least. From turbans to velvet coats and soft colors I likes most bits of it. That Gun on the ramp was unnecessary.

Nilofer Shahid’s Rembrandt was a befitting finale. Never seen a couture show as impressive as this one on the ramp of FPW before. Pictures won’t do justice to the grandeur of this collection, period.
