A melting wonder – Vending machine of your dreams

Summers in Pakistan are intense with mercury rising often up to 45 C to 48 C. Walking on the streets or even going out for work feels like melting under the sun. All you need in such days is chilled sip of refreshing 7up to cheer yourself up.

Have you ever wondered about a cold drink vending machine that doesn’t charge for a chilled can of a refreshing 7up on a hot day? I always dreamt of it. Everytime I go out on a shopping spree during scorching summer days, I keep on looking for some cold drinks. Sweltering summers on the go make you crave for a refreshingly chilled drink and if it comes as a surprise, nothing beats the joy.

When it comes to outdoor advertising and unique activities that we’ve never seen before in Pakistan, 7up is always a notch higher. Like their foodie cruise and animated #AsalFoodie chat, the latest 7up outdoor activity is one of the most Awe inspiring one.

Huge ice slabs were being drilled to put 7up cans in it and then placed over each other, shaped like a vending machine. What an idea!!

Look in the video how 7up makes people happy on a hot day with their unique melting fridge or as they’ve called it a melting vending machine. Such a joyful sight it is to watch people digging into the melting surprise and enjoying a refreshingly chill sip of 7up.

Here is the recipe of my mums yummiest yakhni pulao ever. We have grown up on this authentic punjabi pulao while living in the city of biryani. Yes, Karachi main reh k pulao se pyaar kartay kartay biryani walay hogaye magar ab bhi is pulao ki takkar ki koi biryani nahi.

P.S. Best Yakhni pulao is made with beef with bones, some fat and marrow. Nothing as good as a marrow and fat wala pulao. Yum.

ایک ململ کے کپڑے میں زیرہ, لونگ, دار چینی, الائچی, کالا زیرہ, سفید زیرہ, لہسن اور سونف ڈال کر پوٹلی بنا لیں. مرغی , بکرے یا گائے کے گوشت کو حسبِ ضرورت پانی میں پوٹلی اور نمک کے ساتھ ابال لیں کہ گوشت گل جائے . یہی پانی یخنی کے طور پر استعمال ہوگا.
الگ پتیلی میں پیاز کو تیل یا گھی میں گولڈن براؤن کر لیں . دھیان رہے کہ تیل یا گھی بہت کم نہ ہو. اب اس میں ثابت ہری مرچیں ڈال دیں اور پانی کا چھینٹا دیکر ڈھک دیں تاکہ پیاز اپنا رنگ چھوڑ دے.
نمک , (آلو) اور ابلا ہوا گوشت ملا کر تھوڑا سا بھونیں اور چاولوں کی مقدار سے ایک تہائی زیادہ یخنی ملا کر ایک اُبال آنے دیں. اب اس میں صاف اور پہلے سے بھیگے ہوئے چاول ملائیںں . اب چاولوں کو دم پر رکھ دیں اود دس سے پندرہ منٹ…

#MommyMyth – Hairfall when your infant starts babbling

#MommyMyth is a series of blogposts that I am doing to document all the strange things associated with the life of a new mom. Well, to be honest some grandma tales or #MommyMyths I find true, some I don’t but they’re the things that you keep on hearing from people around you as soon as you get pregnant. I’ve heard them a lot and trying to let others know about them too 🙂

There’s a saying that you’ll be having a pretty bad hair fall as soon as your infant starts babbling between the age of 6-9 months. That happens to be damn true, atleast with me and I’ve noticed it with my both babies.

Hairfall definitely has connections with hormonal changes during lactation period but the myths needs no logic or justifications. They’re there and we’re here to experience them.
